The Registrar of the Council for Medical Schemes has approved the annual contribution increase with effect from 1 April 2026.

The Board of Trustees would like to inform you that, with effect from 1 April 2026, contributions to the BP Medical Aid Society will increase by a weighted average of 11%.

Annual contribution increase approved

The Board of Trustees has been notified by the Registrar of the Council for Medical Schemes that the annual contribution increase with effect from 1 April 2024 has been approved.

Board of Trustee elections

Nominations are required to fill four vacancies for member-elected Trustees on the Board of Trustees, following which an election will take place. It is important that you participate and have your say on who should represent your interests on the Board of Trustees.

Contribution increases in respect of the BP Medical Aid Society take effect on 1 April each year. After careful consideration, contributions were increased by an average of 9.5% with effect from 1 April 2024.

Since receiving the Motion to Place the Society under Curatorship on 4 July 2022, there have been numerous engagements between the attorneys of the Society and the attorneys of the Registrar in an effort to resolve the matters pertaining to the curatorship.

Focus on COVID-19 vaccinations

Phase 1 of the national vaccination rollout initially focused on the vaccination of healthcare sector workers. Phase 2 of the national vaccination schedule is now open and aims to complete the vaccination of the remaining healthcare workers, as well as the rollout to citizens 60 years and older.
